Tony Isaac has agreed to stay on as chief executive of BOC Group, the industrial gases supplier, beyond November 2003 when he would have reached the company“s normal retirement age of 60. He will now leave in 2005. When Isaac first took became acting chief in August 1999 it was only supposed to be a temporary position, as BOC had accepted a GBP 7.2 billion cash bid and was simply waiting for regulatory clearance. US regulators later scuppered the deal and Isaac since led BOC as a standalone company.
