One of the largest and most global of the world“s leading gases companies BOC Gases announced in the first week of September that it had started construction of a state-of-the-art special gases production and cylinder transfill facility on a 35-acre lot in Angleton, Texas, US. BOC is investing nearly US$ 4 million in the new facility, which is expected to generate 11 new jobs at start-up, and eventually employ a workforce of 20 when fully operational. Scott Hickes, product manager, Special Products, BOC Gases, said, “We selected the Angleton site because of its proximity to our customers and easy access to major highways. When it is complete, the plant will play a critical role in the BOC supply chain for the Houston area. This facility will help us achieve our objective of meeting the increasing demand from Gulf Coast process chemical manufacturers for specialty gas mixtures and pure gases such as oxygen, nitrogen, argon, and helium.” The Angleton plant is the latest addition to BOC“s expanding North American network of more than 115 compressed gas filling facilities. This network supplies more than five million compressed cylinders per year to a variety of manufacturing and testing facilities throughout the U.S. and Canada.
