22 January 1998: In December 1997, German-based company Blees-Karrena, completed the construction of a new float glass furnace for Euroglas in Haldensleben, Germany. The float glass furnace has a capacity of 550 tons of glass per day, and is the 7th new installation set up by the Blees-Karrena group since 1995. The firm had already installed new furnaces internationally, for companies including Asahi of Japan,Guardian Industries of the US and France“s Saint-Gobain. The company has carried out numerous cold repairs of float glass plants as well as new installations and repairs of plants for the container and fibre glass industry. Blees Karina has reported that both its annual turnover and their scope of services have continued to grow since the company was founded in 1989. In 1997, with its subsidiaries in Spain, Brazil, Mexico and Saudi Arabia, the Blees-Karrena group achieved an annual turnover of about US$ 20 million. The management of the company said that its latest float glass projects include the installation of a float glass plant for Guardian Industries in Brazil and a cold repair of Guardian“s Luxembourg II plant (550 t/d). The latter will take three months to be completely reconstructed in spring this year.
