Czech electricity supplier CEZ cut power to member companies of glass holding Bohemia Crystalex Trading (BCT) for one hour, it was reported on 18 September 2008. The move was a warning over outstanding invoices for electricity worth hundreds of millions of Czech korunas. “We are showing that we would permanently disconnect all BCT“s delivery points next week if our claims are not settled”, CEZ spokeswoman Eva Novakova said. Group CEZ has negotiated intensively with BCT group management about its debts but to no avail. The debtor was alerted about the possible power supply disconnection. “The debt of firms of the group BCT rose so enormously in the last three months that CEZ had to take this measure”, Ms. Novakova said. The one-hour power supply suspension hit Concordia, Crystalex, Karlovarsky Porcelan, Sklarny Bohemia, Sklarny Kavalier and Sklo Bohemia, members of the BCT holding.
