Portuguese glass products maker BA-Fabrica de Vidros Barbosa & Almeida posted a consolidated net profit after minorities of EUR 12.2 million (USD 14.3 million) for the first nine months of 2003, up 91.1% year-on-year, it was reported on 24 October 2003. The company“s consolidated net sales were EUR 140 million (USD 164.4 million), up 3.5%, and operating profit reached EUR 20.6 million (USD 24.2 million), up 58.6%, with earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) up 12% to EUR 38.6 million (USD 45.3 million). BA said that its financial debt went down by EUR 21.5 million (USD 25.2 million) to EUR 90.6 million (USD 106.4 million). The glass maker posted an extraordinary loss of EUR 1.01 million (USD 1.2 million) compared to a EUR 823,330 (USD 966,754) extraordinary profit. Unless otherwise indicated, all figures/comparisons are for the January to September period 2003/2002.
