Thailand“s Bangkok Glass, a manufacturer of glass bottles, expects advance orders with combined volume of 200,000 tonnes between now and the first quarter of next year because of a significant increase in demand. Mana Akrasut, deputy managing director of the company, said the increase in demand was attributable to the upcoming liberalisation of the distillery industry in Thailand. The existing concessionaire is speeding up production before the concession expires by the end of the year while new players are also preparing to launch new products in the market. Mana said Bangkok Glass, a subsidiary of Boon Rawd Brewery Group, was running its production lines round the clock with maximum capacity of 1,750 tonnes a day. The company controls up to 80% share in domestic market. It earned more than Bt 3 billion from domestic sales and export last year.
