Portuguese glass producer BA Vidro, formerly Barbosa & Almeida, posted a profit of EUR 16 million (USD 21.5 million) for 2004, up 18% year-on-year, the company said on 16 March 2005. Consolidated sales rose 5.5% to EUR 192 million (USD 257.4 million), while earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) went up 13% to EUR 56 million (USD 75.07 million). BA Vidro has four plants in Portugal and Spain and some 93% of its sales are made within the Iberian Peninsula. The company plans to invest some EUR 60 million (USD 80.4 million) by 2006. BA announced earlier it planned to invest the sum in its largest plant, Marinha Grande in central Portugal. (Unless otherwise stated, all figures/comparisons are for 2004/2003)
