After 18 years of development, a Hunter company has launched a unique bottle labelling system which is making the wine industry sit up and take notice. Toronto-based Wine Collectibles Australia (WCA) took the wraps off its glass image digitization system at this month“s 11th Australian Wine Industry technical conference in Adelaide. WCA spokesman Phil Harrison said the conference attracted international attention. WCA has developed a system which inks high-resolution, photo quality images into glass. The result is scratch-proof, vibrant labels which can either run top-to-bottom on the bottle, wrap-around or present in a more conventional manner. Harrison said: “These make outstanding collectibles and the bottles can be re-used. Our system can be used on any sized or shaped bottle and we can start with small runs for corporate gifts. At the moment there are 10 processes involved and it“s all hand done.”
