Japanese Asahi Glass Co. Ltd. will establish two production units, after the completion of Asahi“s bid for buying minimum of 90% of Belgian glassmaker Glaverbel SA, held on 18 March 2002. The two divisions, based respectively in Brussels and Tokyo, will produce flat glass and car windows, according to Asahi“s top officials who were on a visit to Brussels on 15 March 2002. Prior the bid for buying over 90% of Glaverbel“s stock at EUR 145 per share, Asahi controlled some 65% of Glaverbel.
