Moody“s Investors Service Inc., the major U.S. credit-rating agency, said it has upgraded the outlook for the A2 senior unsecured long-term debt ratings of Asahi Glass Co. to positive from stable. Moody“s said that this change reflects Asahi Glass“s strong improvement in earnings, resulting from the successful implementation of its (October 1998-March 2002) medium-term business plan. Moody“s also said that it expects earnings will further improve with strong growth potential in both the electronics and display business, and the performance chemical business such as the polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) resins.
