An explosion at the Gumi plant of Asahi Glass Fine Techno Korea during repairs to a hydrochloric acid storage tank left one dead and two injured. The accident occurred on 10 January 2008 at 10.15am in part of a water treatment facility at the plant. The dead and injured were employees of a subcontractor carrying out the repairs. Asahi Glass Fine Techno Korea said the cause of the explosion was unknown. Production of TFT LCD glass substrates at the plant was not affected, the firm said. In a statemet the company expressed its condolences to the families of the victims.
