Apogee Enterprises, Inc., which makes glass products for the building and auto industries, reported a 7% drop in quarterly earnings, citing a slowdown in its construction market. The company, based in Minneapolis, recorded first-quarter earnings of US$ 5.2 million, or 18 cents a share, down from US$ 5.6 million, or 20 cents a share, in 201. Apogee Enterprises said it still expects earnings of US$ 1.00 a share for the year. The company also said it cut its long-term debt by US$ 12.6 million to US$ 56.5 million at the end of the first quarter.
