5 February 1998: Apogee Enterprises, Inc. was recently named to Fortune magazine“s inaugural list of “100 Best Companies to Work for in America.” “Our selection to this list is a tribute to the people who embody the spirit, ethic and future of Apogee,” said Don Goldfus, Apogee“s Chairman. “Looking ahead, we believe Apogee“s work environment will become even more fulfilling as technologies drive further growth and opportunity for our employees.” The authors of the survey, Robert Levering and Milton Moskowitz, had previously listed Apogee in their series of books, “The 100 Best Companies to Work for in America.” In both the books and the Fortune article, a random sampling of employees responded to questions related to trust in management, pride in work/company, and camaraderie. The Minneapolis/St. Paul area, home of Apogee, had the second highest number of companies selected on the list, next to Silicon Valley.
