Severoceska Ekonomika, the owner of glassworks Antonin Rueckl a synove, sklarna Vcelnicka, appealed a verdict of the Regional Court in Ceske Budejovice, South Bohemia, which sent the glassworks into bankruptcy the last week of January. Marie Cervinkova of the Ceske Budejovice court confirmed the move to CTK on 30 January saying that the Prague High Court can change, annul or confirm the bankruptcy. Severoceska Ekonomika director Jiri Meduna claims that the bankruptcy is an error caused by just one delayed payment. He admitted that the glassworks has more unpaid debts but those with agreed payment schedules. A debt to the glassmaker Novosad a syn, based in Harrachov, East Bohemia, has been settled through transfer of the debt to third person by Novosad who lodged a proposal to lift the bankruptcy petition. Severoceska Ekonomika said it entered Antonin Rueckl a synove glassworks in the summer of 2001 in order to launch restructuring and sell the firm to a foreign strategic partner.
