5 February 1998: US-based Andersen Corp., the privately held window manufacturer, has named Donald L. Garofalo its chief executive. Garofalo who started as a sales representative at Andersen 34 years ago, succeeds Jerold W. Wulf, who retired in mid-January. Andersen has not released revenue figures, however annual sales are estimated at US$ 1.15 billion according to analysts. An industry executive also said Andersen is the largest manufacturer of windows and patio doors in the United States. While acknowledging that the company faces a changing marketplace, Garofalo said, through a spokeswoman, “The future of a company with the people, history of innovation and market-leader position of Andersen is very bright.” The company“s board of directors said it selected the 34-year Andersen veteran because of his leadership and business management skills demonstrated over the past two years, when he served as executive vice president and chief operating officer of the company.
