As part of a restructuring programme, the US operation Anchor Glass Container Corp. is laying off workers at its various manufacturing sites, including 75 workers at its corporate headquarters in Tampa, Florida, US. The restructuring follows the recent acquisition of 11 out of 13 Anchor plants by Canada“s Consumers Packaging Inc. from Mexico“s Vitro SA for US$ 387 million. Consumers Packaging will continue to run Anchor as a private, independent US division.
