Turkey“s glass packaging producer Anadolu Cam will invest USD 47.6 million (EUR 36.2 million) to raise the capacity of its Ruscam subsidiary in Russia, the company said on 27 December 2006. Anadolu Cam will install a third furnace at the Ruscam glass bottle plant in Ufa, in the Russian Bashkortostan republic in the southern Urals, increasing its annual capacity in the country by 120,000 tonnes to 860,000 tonnes, the company said in a statement to the Istanbul Stock Exchange. Currently, the Ufa plant has two furnaces with a total capacity of 240,000 tonnes. Anadolu Cam will finance 40% of the investment from its own funds. The company, which has another two glass packaging plants in Russia“s Vladimir and Vologda regions, operates three plants in Turkey and one in Georgia. Anadolu Cam is the largest producer of beverage and food containers in Turkey and a member of glassware and chemicals group Turkiye Sise ve Cam Fabrikalari (Sisecam).
