A joint venture which teams-up US-based Air Products & Chemicals Inc. and the local Caribbean Industrial Gases Unlimited was recently established in view of building a new air separation plant in Trinidad and Tobago. The latter is jointly owned by Air Products and Neal & Massy Holdings of Trinidad and Tobago. The planned facility, of undisclosed cost, is intended to supply oxygen, nitrogen and air to a new methanol facility that is currently under development. As things currently stand, construction start-up is tentatively scheduled to begin in January 2002 and project completion is slated for September 2003. Air Products employs a total staff of about 17,500. The company is involved in the production of industrial gases and chemicals for industrial applications.
