The Czech Republic operation of the Air Products company of the United States, which produces and distributes technical gases, wants a turnover of Kc 400 million this fiscal year ending October 1997, director Roman Plachy has told journalists. The firm“s net profit is to be at least Kc 40 million, said Plachy. The US company Air Products and Chemicals Inc., based in Pennsylvania, US, entered the Czech market six years ago. With the Czech firm Ferox Decin it founded a joint venture, to become its sole owner later. Currently, the company possesses 60 gas storage sites in the Czech Republic, and supplies gas to the glass, steel, chemical and food-processing industries. Mr. Plachy also said that the company will open a new US$ 4 million gas-supplying station in Brno-Slatinany before the end of September. Total investments will amount to US$ 10 million in this country this year. In 1996, the company invested US$ 15 million into the oxygen plant in Litvinov, north Bohemia, the largest oxygen plant in central Europe.
