On 23 January, Mr. Edward E. Hagenlocker, vice chairman of Ford Motor Company, was elected to the board of Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. during the company“s annual meeting. Commenting on the appointment, Air Products Chairman H. A. Wagner said, “Our board will benefit greatly from Mr. Hagenlocker“s many years of experience as a corporate executive in the United States, Europe and Latin America, which are among the key markets for our products and services.” Mr. Hagenlocker, 57, joined Ford Motor Company as a research scientist in 1964 and subsequently held engineering management positions within the organisation. In the mid-1980s, he led Ford“s operations in Brazil. He was later named executive vice president of Ford North American Automotive Operations, and was elected president of Ford Automotive Operations in 1994. Mr. Hagenlocker became chairman, Ford of Europe, in 1996, the same year he assumed his current position. Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. has annual sales of US$ 4 billion, operations in 30 countries and 15,000 employees.
