AGC, an Italian company based in the north of the country, and part of Japanese Ashai Glass, recently announced that it will be sacking 67 of the 250 workers. As a protest, four workers are carrying out a sit-in on the roof of the premises of the glassworks, specialized in automotive windscreens, and have said that they will not come down until the company can give them convincing answers. Until now no one has come to talk to us. We are determined and will not stop here: we could even take even more action. On 7 October 2009, during the first meeting between the company and unions in Rome, a document was signed in which the will to meet an agreement was signed that will not damage the workers and that foresees the use of social safety nets and new jobs. But this is not enough for the workers. And the institutions are also convinced that more can be done. We are here to help the workers, said the vice mayor Giancarlo Boselli and councillor Fabio Panero.
