AGC Glass Europe is launching a new app to help users choose the most appropriate acoustic glass for their needs based on the level of noise pollution around them.
Acoustic glass offers a number of solutions for reducing noise in homes and workplaces and choosing the right one isn’t always easy. AGC’s Acoustics App enables users to select from a range of common noise sources (dog barking, city traffic, etc.) and to listen to them as they would sound through an open window. Users then ‘close’ the window by selecting a particular type of glass: nine specifications are available ranging from single to triple acoustic glazing. Users can thus listen to and compare the level of sound protection offered by the different specifications via their smartphone or tablet. For each specification selected, the app also generates a comprehensive file detailing the relevant levels of acoustic, safety and thermal insulation performance; users can have this file sent to an email address of their choice.
The app also features a soundlevel meter to measure the noise level in decibels in a user’s immediate environment. The Discover section also explains the basics of sound, sound insulation and acoustic glass.
The Acoustics App is available as a free download from the iTunes App Store and Google Play.
It is easy and fun to use. Users should calibrate their smartphone beforehand to ensure that the simulation is as accurate as possible. Just follow the simple steps described when launching the app (Settings).
