Advanced Energy Industries, Inc. has appointed Kunihiko “Kenny” Kitagawa as President and Representative Director of Advanced Energy Japan K.K. (AEJ) based in Hachioji, Japan, it was announced 7 December 2005. He replaces Nobuo Kawakami, who will be assuming the position of Chairman. Mr. Kitagawa“s career spans twenty years of semiconductor industry experience as both a general manager and as a technologist. Mr. Kitagawa was most recently a representative director for Ultratech KK. Prior to his position at Ultratech, he was a general manager of key divisions at KLA-Tencor Japan. Earlier, he served as a general manager of Applied Materials Japan, responsible for strategic customer accounts. Hans Betz, president and chief executive officer of Advanced Energy, said, “AE Japan is a major component of our global infrastructure for sales, service and mass flow control product development. Kenny“s industry knowledge, as well as his insight into the OEM and end user customer experience, will help maximize our market positioning as we pursue key growth opportunities in semiconductor and flat panel display markets. He has a particularly strong track record of results in sales, marketing, service and new technology innovation, and is a valuable addition to our global management team.” Advanced Energy is a global leader in the development and support of technologies for high-technology, high-growth manufacturing processes used in the production of semiconductors, flat panel displays, data storage products, solar cells, architectural glass, and other advanced product applications.
