The Achinsk Alumina Complex (Krasnoyarsk) is the only enterprise in Russia and the world applying the technology of alumina, soda ash and potash production from nepheline ore. The plant has a capacity of 900 thousand tons of alumina per year. In 2000 the complex implemented investment programme of RUR 389 million 262 thousand and RUR 583 million 500 thousand – in 2001. For 2001 as a whole, the plant produced 965 thousand tons. In 2001 it was completed the acquisition of mining and transport equipment for Kiya-Shaltyrskiy and Mazulskiy mines for the sum of RUR 175 million 408 thousand. The Kiya-Shaltyrskiy nepheline mine extracted and delivered 4323.2 thousand tons of nepheline ore to the complex. The Mazulskiy lime-pit mined and dispatched 6137.4 thousand tons of limestone. Thanks to well-coordinated activity the Achinsk Alumina Works produced 965 thousand tons of alumina. Alumina of highest quality (grade G-00) made up 97.6% of the total volume as against the plan of 90%. Commodity output of alumina on average amounted to 80.6%. For 2001 the enterprise manufactured 496.45 thousand tons of soda ash including 7.5% of first-quality soda and 92.1% of second-rate soda. For the first time in the period of work the complex has reached such figures.
