According to the most recent Producer Price Index Report (PP) from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), flat glass prices in the US saw a slight increase from December to January.
The index was listed at 115.7 for January 2013, compared to 115.2 in December 2012. The latest report follows several recent drops, including a 0.7% decrease from November to December and a 0.1% drop from October to November.
Meanwhile, the price of construction materials also is on the rise – up 0.5% from December to January, according to the report. The index was listed at 220.0 for December and 221.2 for January. This rise follows a 0.3% increase from November to December and a 0.1% increase from October to November.
The PPI echoes the latest import report from the BLS, which showed a 0.7% rise in import prices for glass and glassware from December to January, along with reported increases from glass suppliers.
The PPI is a family of indexes that measure the average change over time in the prices received by domestic producers of goods and services, according to the BLS.
