In May 2014, Anchor Hocking laid off more than 1200 workers in an effort to cut costs. One of the results of these cuts is the creation of a group called "Save Anchor Hocking", which aims to raise funds to keep the plant open.
A Facebook page that was started up in May now has thousands of followers who want to help keep the glass production plant working.
Local investors now want to raise funds to buy the local plant. According to organizers, it would take at least USD 200 million to buy the entire company.
While workers say 450 of them were called back to work two weeks ago, many others are still waiting to receive news about their future.
