When a glassworks is one of the companies to have taken part in starting and developing the glass industry of a country, then we know we are speaking about someone important. In this article, we are presented with a basic profile of one of Turkey’s main glassmakers – Pasabahce, part of the Sisecam Holding – along with some of its main developments and product ranges.

Pasabahce started production of glass tableware products made of soda ash using manual production (hand-made) in 1935
Sisecam Holding started its activities in 1935 with the first glass facility established in the Pasabahce district of Istanbul, which was the first step towards setting up and developing the glass industry in Turkey. Ever since then, investments and production updates have been carried out using state-of-the-art technology, as well as research and development activities, to cover all the essential requirements for glass products in the country.
Already in the 1960s, Sisecam had started to expand its operations towards global markets, growing continuously and ranking among the most prestigious glassmakers of Europe and the world.

Specialized in essential areas of glassmaking
Sisecam is specialized in all the essential areas of glassmaking with its main divisions, namely Glass Tableware, Glass Packaging, Flat Glass and Chemicals.
Pasabahce continues to invest in high-growth markets by continuously launching and marketing new brands.

Glass Tableware
The Glass Tableware Division operates under the brand name Pasabahce, manufacturing soda ash and crystal glass both hand made and automatic.
Pasabahce Glass Industry and Trade Inc. started production of glass tableware products made of soda ash using manual production (hand-made) in 1935, followed by, in 1955, machine production (automatic), which is regarded as the initial phase in today’s automatic production technology. In 1974, the production of heat resistant glass was included.
