THE COMPANY
Founded in 1925, Bernard et Bonnefond’s main activities were concentrated on the electric repairing of motors, transformers, and rotating machines, moving, in the 1970s, to design and construction activities, developing the on-load stepless variable voltage transformers that represents the core business of the company: VARIVOLT®. Located in Saint Etienne, in the area of Lyon, France, Bernard et Bonnefond is continuing to grow, completing its new 2,500 square metres premises in autumn 2009. Thanks to active promotion in new markets in Europe, but also in South America, India, Indonesia, Thailand, Japan, China, and South Korea, along with support from wellknown engineering companies and local agents, the company exports more than 80 per cent of its production and reported turnover of EUR 15 million for 2009.

Subsidiaries
Bernard et Bonnefond has three subsidiaries:
• Bernard Engineering, for control panels and engineering - www.bernardengineering.fr,
• Amppelec, for standard or customized LV and MV bus ducts from 1,000 to 50,000A - www.amppelec.com,
• Variable Voltage Ltd., a representative office in Ohio, United States.

VARIVOLT®
VARIVOLT®, Bernard et Bonnefond’s on-load stepless variable voltage transformer, from 30 kVA to 30 MVA, is designed for electric heating, melting and testing purposes, used especially for melting furnaces and testing platforms.
