Heat and Cut-resistant Gloves Prevent Injuries

1998-03-10 | Worker safety

A study on work-related accidents in Europe has shown that injuries to the hands and/or wrists are the most common. To prevent such injuries in a cost-effective manner, workers at risk are encouraged to wear the relevant safety gloves. The chemical giant DuPont is producing the Kevlar(R) brand fibre, now widely used to manufacture highly cut and heat resistant Kevlar(R) gloves and sleeves. These are ideal for use in the glass manufacturing and processing industries not only because they offer protection at high temperatures and from sharp glass edges and tools, but also because they are lightweight, flexible, comfortable and cost-effective.
