Pennine: multi-million pound investment in plant and machinery

2014-08-20 | Industry update

Just four years before celebrating its 50th anniversary, 2014 is an important year for Pennine Industrial Equipment, with the expansion of its facilities and yet more ambitious expansion and growth plans for the future – all in response to increasing demand for the company’s products – specialist conveyor chains, used in the production of molten glass.

Pennine: multi-million pound investment in plant and machinery
The company
Pennine Industrial Equipment Ltd., leading specialist manufacturer of silent chain and sprockets for hot end glass handling and plastic inclusions for the materials handling industry, was established in 1968 and specializes in the design, manufacture and distribution of conveyor components and machined plastic parts.
The majority of Pennine’s products are designed on-site using either the customer’s own design or the company’s CAD system. Equipment for machining allows a high level finish, suitable for numerous industries including food, baking, beverage, textiles and cosmetics.
A key specialist area of activity is the glass industry, where the company is one of the world’s top suppliers of specialist conveyor chains, used in the production of molten glass.
Its manufacturing facilities are split between Premium Conveyor Chains for glass conveying and machined plastics.

Expansion in response to increasing demand
The company has been expanding facilities at the Skelmanthrope site in Huddersfield to cope with increased demand for its pro-
ducts, which are distributed worldwide including South America, Africa and Europe.
Completion of the GBP 2 million investment programme for new factory floor space and state-of-the-art equipment, which was also unveiled on 16 May 2014 at the West Yorkshire firm’s manufacturing site, was celebrated with a formal opening by local MP Simon Reevell and attended by a host of invited dignitaries, including the Mayor of Kirklees.
