Durst: new ways of decorating glass with digital inkjet printers

At the 2010 edition of the glasstec trade fair, Durst had on show the most recent additions to its product range: the Rho 700 UV modular flatbed printer, and the continuous UV flatbed printers Rho 800 Presto and Rho 800 HS. Made for high productivity and the finest image quality, these products are the proof of how this company carries out its research – working today on technologies that the market will demand tomorrow.

Durst has been one of the world’s leading producers of high-quality image production systems for nearly 70 years. Company products have set benchmarks in respect to their quality and innovative techno- logy. This determination for innovation has won Durst numerous international awards.

PRODUCTION PLANTS
Durst Phototechnik AG - Brixen, South Tyrol, Italy
These purpose build headquarters were opened in 1966, and there are now about 200 employees working across all departments, including general management, research, development, production, sales and export. Durst Phototechnik Digital Technology GmbH - Lienz, AustriaContinued growth led to a need for increased production capacity and, subsequently, to the opening of a new factory in Lienz/East Tyrol in 2000. Here a staff of 130 are employed in the production of Rho large format ‘direct to media’ inkjet printers.

DURST INKJET SCIENCE
The company’s scientists have deep knowledge and understanding of the science behind inkjet printing. Inkjet technology is much more that assembling printheads, electronics and mechanical components outsourced from other suppliers. At Durst nothing is left to chance, and its scientists are involved with the technology behind printheads, drop formation, firing impulse, inks adhesion, curing, media transport and carriage movement.
