Advanced implementation of building technology
The organic shape of the new Baden-Württemberg Space Centre building clearly sets it apart from the rectangular-shaped structures of the surrounding institutes. It nevertheless blends into the existing road system, emphasising the fact that it forms part of the university research site.

Striking design
The planners of the Stuttgart and Hohenheim University Building Department took a conscious decision in opting for the striking nature of the design since, alongside its primary role as a university research, development and teaching building, the aim is to also provide interested members of the general public with deeper insights into the themes of space travel and astronomy through events and exhibitions.
“The opening of the Baden-Württemberg Space Centre will make the University of Stuttgart one of Europe’s largest and most important university research and teaching centres in the field of space travel,” said the Dean of the University of Stuttgart, Prof. Wolfram Ressel.

Design and technology
The pioneering underlying principle of the Baden-Württemberg Space Centre is reflected in both the design of the new building and the advanced implementation of the building technology. The three-storey building features around 1,800 square metres of primary floor space, primarily sub-divided into offices, laboratories, as well as event and communal zones.
