Guardian glass featured on two award-winning green buildings

Two buildings featuring advanced architectural glass from Guardian Industries have earned Canadian Green Building Award honours by Sustainable Architecture & Building Magazine. Both Karis Place in Vancouver and the Jim Pattison Centre of Excellence in Kelowna, British Columbia, used Guardian SunGuard SuperNeutral 68 high performance glass in winning the two awards.

The Canadian Green Building Awards
The Canadian Green Building Awards recognize excellence in the design and execution of Canadian buildings of all types, including new construction, renovations and interior design projects. A jury reviewed 56 entrants and selected the winners based on sustainable design, architectural excellence and technical innovation. The buildings will be honoured at an Awards Ceremony at the 2013 Canadian Green Building Council (CaGBC) National Conference.
Among the winners, two buildings using glass by Guardian Industries - Karis Place in Vancouver and the Jim Pattison Centre of Excellence in Kelowna, British Columbia – both using Guardian SunGuard SuperNeutral 68 high performance glass.
“The fact that the architects made Guardian SunGuard SuperNeutral 68 part of the overall energy efficiency package for these projects is a testament to the product’s ability to combine expansive light transmission with solar heat control,” said Chris Dolan, Guardian director of commercial glass marketing. “Guardian is honoured to be a part of these award-winning buildings.”

Karis Place
Karis Place is the result of a partnership between More Than A Roof Housing Society, BC Housing and the City of Vancouver to create a safe, secure and supportive haven to help alleviate the need for affordable housing for Vancouver’s most vulnerable and needy.
