Pietro Bonaiti: Celebrating 60 years in specialized production
Pietro Bonaiti was founded in the mid-1930s in the area around the town of Lecco, northern Italy, a historically active area in the iron industry and, today, an important industrial area.
In 1936, the United Kingdom decided on an embargo of its products towards the Rome-Berlin allies, among which conveyor belts for the glass industry, and therefore, Pietro Bonaiti, thanks to his experience in this industrial sector, decided to set up his own company. At the beginning, he worked together with a partner, but then decided to continue his work alone, with the collaboration of four or five employees. The work took place in a small workshop of about 200 square metres, using frames and other machinery for the cold bending of metal wire. Production included, other than conveyor belts, netting for mattresses and for fencing, using the same technology, even if the materials were different. The entrepreneurial ability of the company founder, together with the strong industrial concentration of the area, contributed in the growth of success o the company which continues to be family-run and is now in its third generation of the Bonaiti family, maintaining unaltered its technological and innovative ability, as well as attention to the needs and demands of its clients.
