Hello, I am working on a courthouse restoration project in texas. The building was constructed in 1916 and we have the original documents. My question relates to the glass specified in the drawings for interior doors and windows. The architect called for "Syenite Glass". I know from research that Syenite is a type of rock that, when added to glass, adds increased scratch and break resistance, improved thermal endurance and increased chemical durability. Does anyone out there know about Syenite glass. Did (does) it have a particular appearance or visual quality or do the properties of it just relate to durability as descibed above?

My husband and I are General Contractors in the San Francisco Bay Area. We have installed a decorative glass block wall in a bathroom. The tile setter inadvertantly nicked a series of the glass block while grinding a tile edge. The damaged area has a frosted appearance. We are looking for a possible repair solution rather than tearing out the work and replacing the damaged glass block. I am looking for any information that you can tell me about a glass domed butterdish that has gold teardrops on all four sides and I think the pattern is wreathed cherry. It has a 'w' with a circle around it. Someone said it was a three mold glass, they thought Westmorland glass, maybe? if you can tell me anything about it i would greatly apreciate it. Someone told me it was very old but I have only found one picture of the wreathed cherry and it says nothing about a butterdish nor does it say that it came in clear glass. The dish itself is clear glass. The cherries are red and the leaves are green, but they are not painted on the dish they are clear and smooth just like the clear glass. I found this in an old library book dated back in the 1800s I think this is what it is. If anyone can tell me anything about it at all I would apreaciate it. Thank you for any help you can give me. I recently purchased a door with a glass inset. The door is a thermopane glass. The reflections in the glass are distorted from both sides. The distributor is telling me that this is normal for all thermopane glass. But I have other doors in the house that have double glass and they are clear. Our company manufactures bathroom cabinets. Blum has introduced a hinge that is designed to be bonded directly to glass or mirror. I am trying to find an appropriate adhesive to bond this hinge to the back of a mirror. the hinge is 28 x 60 mm. Blum suggests using a UV activated adhesive when bonding to clear glass. I am looking for information on proper eye protection for furnace work. I have read mixed reports on whether it is the UV or IR light rays that cause cataracts. I have always advised my students to have the UV protection, but I have not found definitive information on IR protection.
